Zebra Bedding

Somehow, somewhere along the way, zebra print bedding became popular. This raises a few questions and, yes, it is okay to consider me strange for being the one ask them. First, who was the first one to say "Hey, I want a freaking zebra bed!" Seriously, who in the world first woke up, looked down, and wished they had some zebra bed sheets? I looked. Really, I did. I tried every avenue I could think of, and simply could not find a history of zebra stripe bedding. I can't say I'm surprised, but that leads me to believe that the first person to have come up with this must've been someone in a marketing department somewhere. Devious, devious marketing people and their evil, addictive zebra bedding.

So now we have some guy in marketing somewhere who has come up with the first zebra bed set. How does one go about pitching something like that to their boss?

Marketing guy: "Hey, boss, I think we should sell zebra bedding!"

Head of Marketing: "You mean like a bed spread with a picture of a zebra on it?"

Marketing guy: "No, no, of course not. Zebra bed spreads? That would be silly. I mean like zebra
stripes for a pattern. We could have, like, zebra baby bedding, zebra bed in a bag..."

Maybe it was a wild "we don't have anything to lose anyway" type thing that really took off. Who knows, there could be some bedding maker out there whose entire existence today could be credited to the runaway popularity of zebra bedding. Personally, I wouldn't see that as flying off the shelf, but apparently it did as I've seen it on TV, movies, and various places around the net. Do a search for zebra bedding on any search engine, and you'll find every imaginable pattern. Actually, more, because personally the only two ways I could think of before looking at pictures was up to down or left to right. But obviously that's not sufficient.

As with anything that sells well, the next logical step is to make it pink, right?

Wait, what?

Yes, pink zebra bedding is also quite popular. Believe or not, there are people who see black zebra stripes on pepto bismol pink and think "Oh my god I want that!" I don't know those people, nor do I particularly want to. At least I don't think I do. I'm not here to judge.
